French Countryside

Wine Tasting Style

Top – Chicwish / Jeans – Paige / Purse – Chloe, look alike for less here / Shoes – Tory Burch (on sale) / Ring – Stella & Dot

My favorite kind of shopping is when I’m able to create a story with an outfit. For this outfit, my vision was a summer day out at the wineries. I knew I had a wine club event in Amador County, plus a weekend in Napa and wanted to find an outfit that would transport me to the French countryside. While checking out Chicwish, I found this top and immediately knew it would transport me to a faraway adventure and make me feel like chic French woman. Do you ever find that you are seeking out to create an outfit that can tell a story?

Jumpsuit Mania!

DVF Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit – DVF, similar one here / Jewelry – Margaret Elizabeth / Shoes – YSL / Purse – Chloe, look alike for less here

I clearly love jumpsuits, which is why I’ve titled this blog post “Jumpsuit Mania!”. When I was down in Palm Springs, I scored this DVF jumpsuit 80% off at the outlet! I fell for the blue and white print and it’s chic tie around the waist. This look felt so refreshing and fun, which is why I wore it to my friend’s bridal shower in Marin.

Jumpsuits have been catching my eye for this exact reason – they’re a nice departure from the standard party dress. I’ve included some of my favorites below, including one that I wore in Vegas back in June.

August Shopping Dilema

Dress – Trend Responsibly (sold at Madam Butterfly in Sacramento) / Necklace & Ring – Kendra Scott / Purse – Chloe, look alike for less here

Once August comes around, I often find that I want to ease up on the summer clothes shopping. The problem with California is that we still have warm temperatures all the way through the middle of October. Maxi dresses have been a great, yet unexpected transitional piece into fall. They’re effortlessly chic to wear in the summer and when it starts to cool in the fall, you can just add a denim or leather jacket to give it a little edge and warmth. I found this dress at the end of July and knew it’d be perfect in the fall with my leather motto jacket. My recommendation is to look for a maxi dress with neutral tones like my blush dress. The neutrals feel fresh for summer and will play well with fall berry tones.

Rent the Runway

Dress – Rent the Runway / Clutch – Rent the Runway / Shoes – Louboutin / Bracelet – Margaret Elizabeth

I know, I know, I sound like a broken record, but…I love Rent the Runway! This time I rented a dress and a clutch for a friend’s wedding. I saw this Cynthia Rowley dress and just loved the vibrant colors and floral print and fell in love! I don’t purchase clutches very often, so I perused the RTR accessories and found the coral Kate Spade clutch – perfect match!

Many people ask me about Rent the Runway and how it works. I decided to share some of my key tips with all of you because Rent the Runway can be an awesome site to use.

1. Always read the reviews. The model photos don’t always look exactly like the real photos. I always flip through the images and try to find reviewers with a similar build since they list their sizes and height.

2. Figure out what silhouettes work on you. I’ve paid attention over the years on what works and what totally doesn’t. It’s always a risk on how dresses will fit, but this will help minimize the risk.

3. Rent a day or two before the event. Rent the Runway has a great guarantee policy and will let you return a dress that does not work. The problem here is that you may be out of a dress. The rentals can either be for four or eight days, so allowing yourself a day or two to find a new dress will help.

4. If you’re like me and have a whole slew of weddings and other events, go for the pro account, which includes free shipping and insurance for an entire year.

Romper – Heart Boutique / Heels – Louboutin / Purse – Rebecca Minkoff / Ring – Kendra Scott / Bracelets – Margaret Elizabeth

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect romper and I was surprised to find that my first romper purchase was so out of the ordinary, but in the best way! I had been trying on many full length pants versions (which can be tricky when you are 5’3″), so I was pleasantly surprised to find that a wide legged crop was the perfect fit.

Rompers can be a great staple in the summer. This particular romper is a bit more on the dressy side and I plan to wear it to dinner and nice evening events. I have a few tips if you are on the hunt. Don’t be afraid to try on a weird style. My risk totally paid off. For rompers past the knees, go for a heel. It can be a lot of fabric, so a sleek pump or sandal will keep the look effortless. Black (and black & white) rompers can have a classic look, but be sure to have fun with a pop of color. Invest, but don’t invest too much since it is a standout piece. If you are a Sacramento local, I highly recommend stopping by Heart Boutique in Midtown. I scored this romper and a floral shorts romper at Heart. The prices are stellar and the owner has been buying a lot of different/awesome romper styles.

Dusty Blue Dress

Dusty Blue

Dress – BCBG // Shoes – Louboutin, similar style (and another fav of mine) here // Purse – Clare V. // Ring – Kendra Scott

During our trip to Napa the other weekend, my husband took me to our favorite restaurant, Angele. It was the perfect excuse for me to wear this BCBG dress. I have quite the affinity for their clothes, especially during spring. The moment I saw this dusty blue dress, I knew it would have to come home with me. It was incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. I am planning on wearing it again at a friend’s wedding, except this time I plan to wear with wedges.

Have any of you recently found a perfect spring item?

A Little Piece of Heaven

Pineapple Skirt

Tee – Rag & Bone // Skirt – Nordstrom // Shoes – Valentino (old), similar style here // Necklace – House of Harlow // Purse – Mansuer Garviel

This past weekend we took Little Miss Beatrice, our new baby, to Napa! I was pleasantly surprised at how dog friendly the wineries and hotels are in Napa. The three of us had the best time stopping at the usual favorites and some new stops as well. I posted my top five stops to share with all of you.

Napa is an extraordinary place and only an hour away for us. The beautiful backdrop and the delicious food and wine always makes me instantly relaxed. The other fun part to Napa is planning out what to wear! I wore these two outfits on Friday and Saturday as we went out to the wineries. My denim jacket was definitely a good choice as it was a bit windy on Saturday. Beatrice also had some pretty awesome outfits. If you are a fan, you can follow her Instagram @lil_miss_beatrice.

Top 5:

1. Rombauer – for the killer views and killer Chardonnay

2. Angele – perfect for a romantic dinner as it’s on the river and cozy and chic on the inside

3. Castello di Amorosa – for surprisingly stellar wines (both red and white!), plus you can take an awesome tour of the castle including the torture room

4. Mumm’s – for a long list of bubbly, all of which are delicious!

5. The Meritage – for a dog friendly, escape to paradise type of stay

Avant Garden

Kendra Scott Avant Garden

I’ve started the new year with quite the bug and just went I thought I was getting better, I got sick again! So with that said, I am so sorry for the lack of posts. When Kendra Scott launched their new Avant Garden collection, I knew I had to write something up, even if I am sick on my couch. Many of you probably know by now that I am a huge Kendra Scott fan. It has been fun to watch the jewelry line grow and this latest collection is by far my favorite! The Avant Garden jewelry ties together lots of beautiful pastels that are perfect to transition from winter into spring. I’ve purchased the ring and earrings and look forward to wearing them ASAP! Kendra Scott’s jewelry is perfect both dressed up and down and these  pieces will be fun to incorporate in my wardrobe.

I remember back in college I had several friends who were amazed at how much I wore dresses. They were always casual and with a pair of sandals, but still cute and fun. The best part? Dresses are actually very easy to wear and can often have multiple lives. I am brining back this trend in my life and finding dresses that I can just throw on and dress up or down. This black and white dress is so comfy, while looking very sweet and playful. My plan is to pair it with a great pair of open toed heels and a pop of color when the weather starts to get warmer. I can’t believe I almost forgot the simplicity of a good dress! Good thing I stumbled upon a few good dresses recently to remind me of my summer college staple.

Cozy Chic

Sweater – Banana Republic / Turtle Neck – Old Navy / Jeans – Madewell / Shoes – Madewell / Jewelry – Kendra Scott

Every year I get together with my college girlfriends in the city that is San Francisco! Drew and I decided to make a day of it and arrived in the morning to walk around, peruse the shops and of course, blog. This knit sweater is a life saver since I am always freezing! It was perfect to wear while out in the brisk SF air. After some shopping, we all met up for lunch at a local eatery near Union Square, Jasper’s. They had the best cocktails, including one with my favorite pairings: champagne and St. Germain! Needless to say, it was a great day and this outfit worked perfectly.
